Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.

The court issued suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim opting to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.

The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
